TotalEnergies Acquires Kyon Energy - Leading German Battery Storage Developer
Businesswire: TotalEnergies has signed an agreement to acquire the entire share capital of Kyon Energy as part of its development into an integrated energy supplier in Germany. Kyon Energy is one of the leading developers of battery storage systems in Germany and was launched in 2021. Since its creation, Kyon Energy has developed 770 MW of projects with very competitive connection costs of which 120 MW are already in operation, 350 MW are under construction and 300 MW are ready to build. In addition, Kyon Energy’s portfolio includes a 2 GW pipeline of advanced-stage projects.

Magic AI Secures $117M to Build an AI Software Engineer
Maginative: San Francisco-based startup Magic AI has raised $117 million in Series B funding to further develop its advanced AI system aimed at automating software development. The round was led by Nat Friedman (former Github CEO) and Daniel Gross’s NFDG Ventures, with additional participation from CapitalG and Elad Gil, bringing Magic’s total funding to date to over $145 million. Founded in 2022 by Eric Steinberger and Sebastian De Ro, the startup is carving out a niche by focusing on developing an AI software engineer capable of assisting with complex coding tasks and that will act more as a coworker than merely a "copilot" tool..

Kern Tec raises €12M to turn food waste into sustainable ingredients
EU-Startups: Kern Tec, an Austrian foodtech company utilizing upcycling to produce valuable food products, announced it has raised €12M in Series A. The company will use these funds to scale up the production & commercialization of its sustainable ingredients for plant-based dairy and confectionery products. Story Protocol raises $54M from investors including a16z and Endeavor
Variety: Story Protocol, which is developing what it says is an open system for extending intellectual property through online collaboration and paying any number of contributors, announced that it has raised more than $54M in funding. The funding was led by a16z crypto, part of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, along with investors including Endeavor and Samsung Ventures.

Ivy raises $20M to take open-banking payments international
TechCrunch: Open banking has the potential to be one of the payment world’s big disruptors: get it to work right, and it could supplant giant networks (and network fees) like Visa’s when it comes to taking and making payments wherever you might be. Today, a startup out of Berlin called Ivy, which has built an API to create a “network of networks” for open banking payments globally, is announcing some funding in its bid to make that a reality.
